New Era Senior Secondary School proudly hosted a significant Awareness Programme on the Prevention of Substance Abuse Among Children on 21/11/25, organised by the CBSE Regional Office, Ahmedabad in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The hybrid-format programme witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 750+ students and educators, including
10 schools (300 participants) attending offline at New Era
25 schools (around 500 participants) joining online
The event began with a warm welcome by Mrs. Leena Nair, Principal, New Era, followed by an insightful online address from Dr. Mridula Singh, Head, Centre of Excellence, CBSE RO Ahmedabad.
The main session was led by Shri Ketan Patil, IPS, Zonal Director, NCB, who delivered an eye-opening and deeply informative talk on the causes, effects, and preventive measures related to substance abuse. The powerful session highlighted the urgent need for awareness, informed choices, and collective responsibility.
The programme concluded with all participants taking a pledge:
“Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life.”
The presence of CBSE officials from RO Ahmedabad — Mr. Md Manzoor (Accounts Officer) and Mr. Saleem Beg (Section Officer) further strengthened this collaborative initiative dedicated to student well-being.
The event was made successful with the constant support and guidance of Shri Anil Thakur, RO Ahmedabad, and Dr. Mridula Singh, Head COE, RO Ahmedabad.
