The conference commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony. Anchored by Nivedita Bakshi and Alina Parmar, the event welcomed distinguished guests: Chief Guest Dr. Pawan Dwivedi, Principal Ms. Leena Nair, Vice Principal Ms. Mary Kutty, and Convener Dr. Susmita Basu. A traditional lamp lighting and prayer invoked blessings for the conference. Inspiring speeches by the Chief Guest and Principal followed. The Secretary-General officially declared the NESMUN open, marking the beginning of intense deliberations and diplomatic engagements. Lok Sabha was a battleground of diplomacy, with the contentious Uniform Civil Code igniting fiery debate. Delegates, assuming the roles of Indian politicians, clashed with the intensity of a political arena, their arguments echoing the nation’s divisive discourse. The atmosphere was electric as they navigated the complexities of religion, gender, and law. The United Nations Human Rights Council provided a global perspective. Belarus, Russia, and New Zealand took center stage, each nation presenting its unique challenges in upholding human rights. The UN Security Council was a cauldron of geopolitical tensions, with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict dominating the agenda. Delegates grappled with complex diplomatic issues, their words carrying the weight of nations. The focus shifted back to domestic policy in Lok Sabha, where agricultural concerns took the spotlight. Young minds delved into the intricacies of India's agrarian economy, proposing solutions and debating government policies. The session showcased a remarkable understanding of complex economic issues. As the day concluded, the participants emerged from the conference rooms, their minds expanded and their perspectives broadened. The inaugural day of NESMUN had been a resounding success, laying the groundwork for what promised to be an intense and rewarding experience.
